Lantana is a flower native to the tropics, and small flowers gather in a Temari shape.
Some varieties have spots on the leaves that can be enjoyed without flowers. It has a long flowering period and is durable, so it is often distributed as pots and is also used for flower beds. It can withstand the cold relatively well, so it can be used over the winter in warm areas.
There are fine thorns on the foliage and it is tingling to the touch. The surface of the leaves is rough to the touch.
Lantana has strong fertility and has been selected as one of the “100 Worst Invasive Alien Species in the World”, and when planted in warm regions and tropical regions, it will breed more and more.
The seed contains a poison called “lantanin”. It’s actually sweet, but eating the seeds inside can cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, respiratory distress, and in the worst case, death, so you should never eat it.
Birds eat fruit, but because they do not digest the seeds, they can be transported to distant places without problems.
