小型のラン科植物。栽培容易な洋ランとしても知られています。キューバ、メキシコ、ジャマイカ、グアテマラに分布しています。標高600-2000m付近に自生しています。耐寒性に優れ、暑さにも強いです。特別な温室がなくても、室温で容易に栽培できます。比較的低温に強い種類ですが、冬などは室内に置き、最低でも5℃以上を保つようにします。
