こんな特徴
交配親は日本原産のツツジなので、サツキやツツジの仲間です。日本と中国のツツジ類がヨーロッパで品種改良されて誕生した鉢植え用ツツジです。花は大きく、花色は白、赤、ピンク、紫、オレンジや複色のものまであり、種類も豊富で色彩も華やかです。自然開花は春ですが、12月頃から鉢花が店頭に並びます。
管理
アザレアは寒さに弱い欠点があります。主に冬に販売されていますが、これは促成栽培されたもので、本来の開花期は5月です。冬に購入した鉢花は、暖房をしない室内の日当たりに置き、水切れに注意します。2年に1回、枝を切り戻して植え替えます。

“Management” azaleas have the drawback of being vulnerable to cold. It is mainly sold in winter, but it is forcibly cultivated and its original flowering period is May. Place potted flowers purchased in winter in the sun in an unheated room to avoid running out of water. The branches are cut back and replanted once every two years.
