こんな特徴

小さい袋状の上唇弁、大きい袋状の下唇弁がユニークで特徴的です。タイガースポットと呼ばれる斑点模様の品種から、斑点が無い品種まで様々です。比較的、暑さ、寒さに弱い一年草扱いのものや冬や夏を越せる多年草系の品種や、低木種もありカルセオラリア属には200種ほどがあります。

和名では巾着草（キンチャクソウ）と呼ばれます。英名ではPocketbook flower（ポケットブックフラワー）Slipper flower（スリッパフラワー）Pouch flower（ポーチフラワー）などの名で呼ばれています。学名も古代ギリシャ語でスリッパを意味するカルセオラス（calceolus）に由来しています。

管理

暑さ、寒さに弱い一年草扱いの品種が店頭に多く並んでいます。

鉢花は、寒さに当てないように、室内の明るい窓辺に置きます。4月頃になり、温かくなったら屋外の日の当たる場所に移動します。

鉢の土の表面が乾いたら、花にかからないように根本に水やりします。

In Japanese name, it is called Kinchakusou. In English, it is called by names such as Pocketbook flower, Slipper flower, and Pouch flower. The scientific name is also derived from the ancient Greek word calceolus, which means slippers.
